Traditional Range: Martingale Adjustable Half Check Collar
A dog handlers favourite when it comes to training your canine companion. The adjustable range is convenient if you need to move the collar from one dog to another and adjust for different neck widths. Also good for growing dogs for the same reason.
Made from the same high quality bridle leather that all Rosslyn Leather leads and collars in the Traditional Range are made from. The longer you use them the better they feel and will last the lifetime of more than a few canine companions if looked after well.
Each lead is hand made and saddle stitched using the best quality waxed braided polyester threads. The combination of this stitching method and quality of thread make these leads extremely strong and long lasting. All hardware used on the Traditional Range is solid brass which also adds to their durability. Brass keepers subject to availability – may be supplied with leather keepers, however, you will be advised before delivery.
Please note: With Martingale style collars, people are often are a little unsure how to measure for them. So, please take time to measure this correctly. The correct size will be around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit with two fingers inserted under the tape measure. This is the size I will use between the buckle tang and the middle adjustment hole when the two chain rings come together. This avoids the dog choking as the collar will not close any further at this point (unless a smaller collar adjustment is made). This will also give a bit of adjustment to either side of the measured size.
So, for instance, if your dog’s neck measurement with two fingers under the tape is 18 inches, then you should order a collar that is 16 to 20 inches so that the correct size will lie in-between these two numbers. When adjusted correctly, the collar should be able to slip on and off your dog’s head without opening the buckle. Don’t worry, they usually don’t come off accidentally. If you are unsure, just send me a note with your dog’s neck measurement (+two finger widths) and I’ll work it out for you.
Also, if your dog is young and still growing, remember to check regularly that your collar length is correct. Once it starts feel a little tight and there’s no more adjustment left then it’s definitely time to upgrade to a bigger collar!
Want something special? No problem, just drop me a note with what you want and we can take it from there.
